Latest Nottingham Forest news as speculation about Reds head coach Nuno Espirito Santo persists
Super agent Jorge Mendes is rumoured to have “asked” potential head coach Evangelos Marinakis to “recommend” possible candidates for Nottingham Forest.
Since the Reds confirmed their Premier League safety last Sunday, there have been rumours regarding Nuno Espirito Santo’s future. The Portuguese player has been associated with Bayern Munich, and clubs in both his native Portugal and Spain are reportedly keeping an eye on him.
Forest, on the other hand, has connections to additional managers. There have been rumours that the team is considering Vincenzo Italiano of Fiorentina and Roberto De Zerbi, the former manager of Brighton and Hove Albion.
According to a report in the Greek press, Marinakis is currently searching for a new coach. Sportime claims that Marinakis “wants something else” with a change of pace in the dugout, so he has turned to Mendes, who also represents Nuno, for assistance.
After Nuno made a mysterious remark during last Friday’s pre-game press conference, rumours regarding his future started to circulate. When asked if he wanted to be a part of Marinakis’ ambitious plans for the club, all he could say was, “I’m here now.”
Despite facing several obstacles, Nuno led the Reds to top-flight survival after taking over as manager in December of last year, replacing Steve Cooper. Along with officiating controversy, a point deduction, and multiple player absences due to injuries and Africa Cup of Nations duty, he had to deal with all of this.
It was, he said, his hardest season as a manager. “When you ask me if it was hard, it was hard because we didn’t have the chance to build what is most important to me in football – the bond,” he said following last weekend’s victory over Burnley. The players’ trust in us and in one another is beginning to show now.
Unquestionably the hardest. We must now take a nap. Rest is in order for everyone, as it was quite difficult. Rest is necessary for the players, staff, and spectators. This is the time to truly rejoice and celebrate.
